Update - 10.11.2009. - Fixed problem in murrine configuration.
Update - 04.11.2009. - I have added tutorial and tutorial files for download I didn't have my Emerald theme on this computer, so I will add it later.
This is how I managed my Ubuntu Karmic desktop to look. As you can see I managed RGBA to work with my Ubuntu Karmic to make that shiny Windows Aero look (transparent windows and blurred background).
What have I done? * Modified Murrine-Wine GTK theme (menus and rgba support). * Modified GommoMod Emerald theme. * Modified Murrine engine settings (had to recompile from source to change transparency level). * Patched nautilus to support rgba. * Added GTK library to support rgba in other apps. * Edited ~/.profile file a bit. * Configured compiz
janhouse hello .. Thanks for the tutorial .. it worked almost perfectly here .. hehe the ryhthmbox, calculator, and other applications will not be transparent background! but nautilus, system monitor and gedit yes! XD Nautilus here nor needed the patch! for ryhthmbox calculator and other applications need some special configuration? sorry for my english .. came from the google translator! .. hehe (i'm using Ubuntu Lucid Lynx)
I seem to be having the same problem as noisecl. The error I am seeing is: dpkg: error processing /home/XXXX/murrine-source/nautilus-2.26.2/nautilus_2.26.3-1_i386.deb (--install): trying to overwrite `/usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps/nautilus.png', which is also in package nautilus-data dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)

Any idea as to why this would happen?

How many people died before they got fugu right?
I tried the gnome aero look tutorial, but when I did it this
apt-get source gtk2-engines-murrine
Show
Cant it Open /var/lib/apt/lists/debian.beryl-project.org_dists_etch_main_source_Sources
- open (2 Doesnt exist the file or directory)
I have installed compiz, emerald and Murrine engine
Why is happen this
I only have a pair of questions:
1st: What's the name of the GTK theme you're using?
2nd: Can I do this on Ubuntu Hardy?
Thanks.

Depeche Mode - Wrong
2. You probably can if you have Murrine engine working on it.
